The wonderful “Star Spangled Banner,” America’s national anthem, was played at the opening of Season 17 of American Idol, when it made its long-awaited return.
However, the choice of an artist was not entirely predictable. When a small seven-year-old kid approached the platform, the judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, rose to their feet and placed their palms over their hearts.
Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja rose to prominence after performing the American National Anthem at a Major League Soccer game in September 2018. Malea Emma was chosen after vying on Instagram against hundreds of other people.
Everyone at the soccer game was taken aback by the girl’s loud voice, which came from such a tiny body. Following her performance, Malea Emma was asked to partake in a David Muir interview on ABC World News that same day.
As a consequence, she was invited to participate in host Ryan Seacrest’s radio program, On Air with Ryan Seacrest. Ryan also chose to contact the American Idol producers and inform them of the issue with the youngster.
Malea Emma and her parents were flown to Idaho by American Idol executives to perform for the judges at the show’s season debut. Despite the fact that the judges thought the little girl was cute, they were taken aback when she opened her lips and began singing the National Anthem. When the tiny performer’s confident, wonderful voice started to boom out, the judges’ mouths fell to the floor.
Malea Emma, clad in a beautiful flowery dress and a pink jacket, posed confidently in front of them. This was clearly not her first time acting in front of an audience.
She sang the difficult melody loudly, even hitting the high notes near the conclusion. Malea Emma’s vocal was flawless and under excellent control, in opposition to other children her age. She also gave the well-known song some superb falsetto notes and an innovative conclusion.
The adjudicator, Luke Bryan, exclaimed, “A seven-year-old is outsinging us!” Given that the minimum candidate age for American Idol is 15, the judges were overjoyed and presented the girl with a Golden Pass, which would whisk her away to Hollywood in 2027.
Malea Emma, seven years old, is on track to become a phenomenal singer and already has a Golden Ticket in her wallet. This child was definitely born to perform!
